This fabulous book, very detailed instructions and very satisfying Yes it is paper pieced but the results that is obtained in the 3 dimensional sense are well worth the effort. I am really tired of all the quick project books, sew in a day, machine sewn quilts and sure they have a place,but sometimes we need to make something great that will become a heirloom.There are projects at the back of the book for small items and one quilt, but I prefer the fact that the instruction of the blocks allow you to be creative and design your own using the instruction.The book isn't for everyone, but if you want to make an absolutely beautiful, satisfying quilt and have time - this is for you
This is a beautiful book. It will inspire you. It has great instructions, great pictures and really good ideas.
Fascinating book on ways to make Dresden blocks that I would have never dreamed of. I have not yet tried one as I am in the midst of another project and trying to sort out my sewing room as well, so trying to start another project now might make the room explode! I am looking forward to trying them. I bought the book with a gift certificate my kids gave me for Mother's Day and out of a wish list that is ~ 7 pages long I choose this book and two others. All terrific booksIf you want to try something a bit different, this book should help you out.
If you like Dresdens, you will LIKE this book. It gives some good ideas. You might visit Katja Marek's blog and website. She does "blocks of the month" - some delightful. But you will want her book
The patterns in this book are stunning. However, I was a little disapointed by the description of the book. This is an ENGLISH paper piecing book. I was under the impression that there were regular paper pricing patterns in here as well. That is not the case. I dislike doing anything by hand. The description of the book states that the patterns give multiple directions on how to piece the segments. Unfortunately, there isn’t enough machine sewing components for me to make anything in this book.
Love books and projects by this author and this book is no exception!!! I have learned so much from Katja Marek, and this book continues my learning and enjoyment! Wonderful examples of dresdens and projects for them. Highly recommend this super book!!
Great book on making Dresden’s. Love how Katja updated making Dresden’s. I made the tablerunner. Directions are very clear. Measurements are precise. Can’t wait to make more!! Very good book & worth the $$.
